Close to 800 riders signed on for the 6th annual journey through the mountains and valleys of Greene County, touching virtually every community. A record number of riders signed on as the Tour of the Catskills continues to be an economic boost to the area. “It takes the entire community to make an event like this successful.” said Lori Torgersen, a member of the Windham Area Recreation Foundation and race volunteer.
“It is amazing to see the amount of work the volunteers do and in terms of business, the hotels are full, the racers eat at local restaurants and everyone is busy,” Torgersen said.
“This event attracts very disciplined people and impacts both sides of the mountain, in Hunter and Windham, in positive ways. The Tour of the Catskills has become a pretty renowned series and continues to grow,” Torgersen said.
