COMMUNITY
RELIEF-FUNDING FOR TROPICAL STORM IRENE: The Windham Foundation raised nearly $700,000 to help local families recover and rebuild after the impact of the historic floods of Hurricane Irene. We continue to help families restore their home and grounds.
DENTAL CLINIC: Columbia Memorial Hospital’s Mobile Dental Health Services unit receives funding from the Windham Foundation to provide dental services at Windham Ashland Jewett (WAJ) Central School for student in grades K – 12th. Dental cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, exams and digital x-rays, fillings and simple extractions were offered at the dental van to all participating WAJ students. The program also provided in-classroom oral health education sessions and additional dental services to adult residents, including exam, x-rays, cleaning, fillings and simple extractions.
WINDHAM PRESERVATION AND STREETSCAPE ENHANCEMENT: From planting new trees to preserving historic signage, Windham Foundation is working with community leaders and other non-profit organizations to help Windham remain vibrant, clean, and beautiful. Clean-up campaigns, stream side debris removal and Arbor Day celebrations are funded by the Windham Foundation, plus the planting of trees on Main Street.
WINDHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT: The Windham Foundation provided $4,500 to the Town of Windham to purchase new rescue equipment – ML-28 Defender w/ Streamline Coupling. Additional funding if $10,000 was provided to purchase a commercial-grade extractor washing machine to decontaminate gear.
HENSONVILLE HOSE DEPARTMENT: The Windham Foundation provided $4,250 to purchase essential fire-fighting equipment.
WINDHAM FIREWORKS COMMITTEE: The Windham Foundation funds fireworks for the 4th of July fireworks celebration.
MOUNTAIN TOP SMALL ANIMAL SANCTUARY: The Windham Foundation provides grants to help rescue, rehabilitation and re-home stray and feral cats.

EDUCATION
WINDHAM FOUNDATION OUTSTANDING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP: Outstanding Student Scholarship is based on the criteria of academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. Recipients are selected annually and receive a total of $10,000 towards their college expenses if they maintain a 3.0 GPA or above.
WINDHAM FOUNDATION TRADE & TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP: is awarded based on the criteria of academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. 2013 was the first year for this award. Recipients will receive a total of $1,500 towards their two-year college degree expenses. Criteria includes maintaining a 3.0 GPA or above.
WINDHAM FOUNDATION BOCES SCHOLARSHIP: is based on the criteria of academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. 2017 was the first year for this award. Recipients will receive a total of $1,500 towards their advanced degree expenses. Criteria includes maintaining a 3.0 GPA or above.

WINDHAM PUBLIC LIBRARY: Has been awarded $1,750 to purchase Portable E-Readers.
WINDHAM PUBLIC LIBRARY SUMMER READING: has been awarded $1,000 – $2,500 annually since 2004, for a summer reading program. The program encourages children to read throughout the summer plus motivates new readers and parent participation.
PLANTING SEEDS GROWING MINDS: Windham Foundation funded a new program for K -3rd graders at WAJ. The programs help young students learn about science through nature. Conducted at the Sugar Maples Farm, students plant seeds, learn about soil, plant nutrients, and crop harvesting.
CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION: Windham Foundation has funded initiatives that foster appreciation and stewardship for our natural resources to WAJ Central School Science Club students since 2008. CCE educators and local environmental educators provide forest-based programs focused on local birds, weather, and forest ecology walks in the Siuslaw Model Forest. Programs include dragonfly study and owl prowls.
WAJ NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY AND THE WINDHAM FOOD PANTRY: Windham Foundation assisted the WAJ National Honor Society in publishing a book to help the Windham Food Pantry.
SUGAR MAPLES SCHOLARSHIPS: The Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts in Maplecrest offers classes in ceramics, fiber arts, and painting. Since the summer of 2005, the Windham Foundation has awarded scholarships to local children to attend the Arts Explorer camp.

RECREATION
WINDHAM PATH: Funded in part by a $90,000 grant from the Windham Foundation, the Windham Path has quickly become a destination for local walkers, runners, and bike enthusiasts. The 1.5 mile loops opened in May and is the first link of a multi-trail system.
HERITAGE MOUNTAIN CONCERT: Starting in 2005, the Windham Foundation has given funding annually in support of the Annual Civil War Heritage Music Gathering & Encampment at the Centre Church in Windham. Attendees experience various presentations: traditional music performances, Civil War living history portrayals and encampment activities/demonstrations, preservation demonstrations, memorabilia and historic art exhibits, a book fair, book signings, and historical reenactments.

SCHOLARIE CREEK YOUTH THEATER: The Windham Foundation sponsors drama workshops that culminated in a performance at WAJ Central School. The workshops have included short scenes from ‘Steel Magnolias’ and ‘The Odd Couple’, in addition to others.
TAIKO DRUMMERS PERFORMANCE: The Windham Foundation sponsors the Taiko Drummers July 4th concert at the Windham Civic Centre. The Taiko drummers have held a residency at the Sugar Maples Center for the Arts in Maplecrest for the past several years.
23 ARTS WINDHAM SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL: Received funding for its concert for its concert series at the Windham Civic Center. The festival brings some of the world’s finest musicians to Windham, providing world-class performing artists and community outreach to Windham.

COMMUNITY
WINDHAM FAMILY MEDICAL: In 2005 the Windham Chapter made a generous donation to the Columbia Memorial Fund in support of bringing a full-time MD to the town of Windham. With the MD in place in 2006, the Windham Chapter provided $19,000 in funding for eyes, nose & throat equipment, a vascular diagnostics system, the development of on-site lab capabilities, and the Outreach Program for Kids and Families. The Windham Chapter continued that support in 2007 and 2008 with an additional $10,000 per year toward additional needed equipment.
WINDHAM HOSE COMPANY was awarded funding for new fire radios. The new radios ensured critical communication between interior and exterior firefighters at emergency sites and allow firefighters to communicate with incident command.
HENSONVILLE HOSE COMPANY was awarded funding for new rescue equipment and for its hosting the Greene County Volunteer Firemen’s Convention in September 2004, marking the company’s 100th anniversary.
MOUNTAINTOP HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Digital Equipment for portable displays, lectures, and newsletters to aid in MTHS’s mission to educate the mountaintop’s residents and visitors on the rich cultural history of our area.
WINDHAM HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Funds have helped purchase a computer and scanning equipment.
WINDHAM TOWN PICNIC: The Windham Foundation sponsored a movie and entertainment for the Windham Town Picnic, held at CD Lane Park.

WINDHAM-ASHLAND-JEWETT RENOVATION PROJECT: The Windham Chapter donated $1 million to WAJ toward the substantial renovations started in June 2007, including a complete makeover to the front of the school, removal of temporary classroom trailers, and many other structural improvements.
WINDHAM-ASHLAND-JEWETT RENOVATION PROJECT ENRICHMENT PROGRAM: Develops student’s academic performance outside of a traditional classroom setting.
WINDHAM-ASHLAND-JEWETT TROUT IN CLASSROOM PROJECT: Teaches students how to preserve our local ecosystem.
WINDHAM-ASHLAND-JEWETT PTSA MOVIE PROGRAM: Free movie events open to students in grades K-5 from the WAJ & HTC school districts.
WINDHAM-ASHLAND-JEWETT SCHOOL MENTORING PROGRAM for teachers. The Mentoring Program is designed to assist new district teachers by making available to them the knowledge, skill and experience of some of the district’s many talented veteran teachers.
WINDHAM ASHLAND JEWETT SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM: In 2005, the Windham Chapter sponsored two WAJ students between the ages of 10 and 15 to participate in summer enrichment camp at Keuka Lake, NY. “Mindstretchers” offers younger students a taste of college life, where campers spend time living in a college dorm, and provides motivated students with a challenging, hands-on learning experience that extends beyond the traditional classroom setting offering courses like Marine Sciences, Poetry for the Mind, Math Moguls, Pottery and Water Sports.

RECREATION
WINDHAM WORLD CUP MOUNTAIN BIKE FESTIVAL was awarded $250,000 to help bring the 2010 UCI World Cup Mountain Bike Series finals to Windham. The world cup is a highly prestigious, world-class race series attracting hundreds of top professional cyclists, and thousands of enthusiastic fans from over 30 countries worldwide.
GIRLS QUEST an organization that sponsored recreational trips and activities for young women, in the purchasing of new kitchen equipment, athletic equipment, and other supplies for summer camp.
MOUNTAIN TOP YOUTH SOCCER has been awarded funding for the team uniforms. Mountain Top Youth Soccer, a Windham-based organization, organized a summer soccer program, an annual Soccer Festival at Windham Town Park, and an Indoor Soccer Season at Hunter-Tannersville High School for 220 players.
MOUNTAIN TOP LITTLE LEAGUE: The Windham Chapter provided funds for the Little League sign. Grants were also provided for children and their parents for trips to Cooperstown and NY Yankee games.
WINDHAM MOUNTAIN CYCLING was supported for numerous years with annual funding for uniforms and travel accommodations to regional competitions. WMC teaches competitive cycling strategies, healthy diet and stewardship of the forest to members of the local community, with an emphasis on local youth. Several young cyclists have gone on to pursue professional cycling careers that started with Windham Mountain Cycling.

ARTS
WINDHAM CIVIC CENTRE: Stage lighting was purchased and installed for the Windham Civic Centre. This grant enabled the Centre to have additional lighting installed in order to benefit the various musical, educational, theatrical, and community meeting groups who use the premises.
GREENE COUNTY COUNCIL ON THE ARTS was awarded funds to support the Mountain Top Gallery, the Sprouts program for youth, and its many other programs in the Windham area.
WINDHAM ARTS ALLIANCE: Was awarded funding for Family Sandcastle contests to celebrate summer and other local arts and music events.
PATCHWORKERS received funds for their annual quilt exhibition, which took place in Windham for the first time in 2004, after having been held in East Jewett for many years. Quilts produced by the Patchworkers are raffled for local charities, including the Windham Public Library and Victims of Domestic Violence in Greene County.
PAUL TAYLOR DANCE PROGRAM: The Windham Foundation sponsored the Paul Taylor Dance in-school program at WAJ Central School. Taylor 2 gave a lecture/demonstration to the Windham-Ashland-Jewett kindergarten through sixth grade students. The full company of six dancers demonstrated its movements and dance repertory, highlighting the importance of the arts in culture and various educational pursuits during program. The students were bedazzled by the energy and talents of the dancers.
CATSKILL HIGH PEAKS FESTIVAL: Windham Foundation supported a “Classical Kids” concert at the Windham Centre Church in conjunction with the Windham Public Library. High Peaks’ students, led by faculty, performed on cello, violin and piano for an audience of approximately 100 people.
TEEN PROGRAM: The Windham Foundation provided funding for local students to attend a summer holistic health program and cooking class for teens at the Sugar Maples.
WINDHAM CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL: has received funding for its concert seasons since 2004. The festival brings some of the world’s finest musicians to Windham and helps to give the area a national profile through the National Public Radio’s “Performance Today”, the New Yorker, the New York Times, and other publications.
