Windham Chapter contributes $5,000 to Chamber Music Festival Series
It was a summer of music in Windham. How fortunate to attract such world class musicians. On Saturday May 25th, WCMF proudly hosted the brilliant Brazilian-born pianist Arnaldo Cohen in his Greene County debut. Cohen performed music of Bach, Brahms, and Chopin on Windham’s fabulous Yamaha Concert Grand Piano.
On Saturday, July 20th, the standing-room only Gala Orchestra Concert was featured with the Windham Festival Chamber Orchestra with Robert Manno conducting. Along with the lovely mezzo-soprano Darcy Dunn, and the brilliant pianist Stephen Gosling. Featured music included works by Vaughn-Williams, Elgar, Vivaldi, Mahler, Britten and the Shostakovich Piano Concerto #1.
In August, the Season continued with two formidable string quartets and two brilliant young pianists making their debut to Windham. The first, on August 17th, featured the Escher String Quartet with pianist Benjamin Hochman. Then on August 31st, the Daedalus String Quartet was featured along with pianist Anna Polonsky. Performances were brilliant as enthusiasts listened and enjoyed the amazing talent. Thank you, Windham Chamber Music for a summer of extraordinary music and entertainment!
